‘Rakul Preet Singh’ will be seen romancing ‘Akkineni Nagarjuna’ in the upcoming romantic drama ‘Manmadhudu 2’. Makers released a special teaser to introduce bold and beautiful character of Rakul in the film. De De Pyaar De actress is seen smoking like a boss in the viral video clip.
While Rakul’s glamorous character received positive response from fans, haters trolled her for smoking like female Casanova in ‘Manmadhudu 2’ teaser. Trolls stated that the smoking scene is deeply disturbing and feminists should take strict action against it. Some viewers feel that Tollywood is slowly becoming like Bollywood in which including such scenes have become norm these days.
In a recent interview, the 28-year-old actress opened up on her smoking scene in the film. She also gave a befitting reply to trolls who were fine with such smoking scenes in ‘Kabir Singh’.
De De Pyaar De actress stated in an interview as mentioned in TOI report: “I don't really get bothered by trolls. I think logo ka kaam hai kehna, kuch toh log kahenge. We are playing characters. Now, whether it is Kabir Singh... if Shahid is smoking in the film it does not make him a smoker. No way, he is promoting smoking. He is playing a character Arjun Reddy that is flawed and he does those things. In real life Shahid Kapoor is a vegetarian, we all know that."
The curvaceous diva explained that her flawed character is not generalized representation of women. Thus, people should watch the film in perspective of that particular character instead of trolling her. The 28-year-old actress further said as quoted in TOI: “People should disassociate to what we are playing onscreen is different and it is a story of that one person... we are not putting the entire girl clan into girls not showing in the right way. That's not happening. It is that one character Avantika that smokes and it's her story. Once you see the film, people will know why she does. Treat it like the character...For me, it was something different. I really don't pay attention to trolls...there are bigger and better things to do."

Besides Rakul and Akkineni, the romantic drama also stars Lakshmi, Rao Ramesh, Vennela Kishore, Jhansi and Devadarshini. ‘Keerthy Suresh’ and ‘Samantha’ would be seen in cameos in Rahul Ravindran’s directorial venture. ‘Manmadhudu 2’ is scheduled to release on August 9.
