While investigating a drug angle in the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, on Friday (September 4) the Narcotics Control Bureau arrested Riya Chakraborty's brother Shovik and the Bollywood star's house manager, Samuel Miranda. Both were arrested after 10 hours of questioning.
The arrest of both shows that the threat to Riya Chakraborty is now increasing, and it is likely that Riya will also be arrested by the NCB.
According to sources, Shovik confessed to the NCB that he used to buy drugs for Sushant Singh through Samuel Miranda at the behest of his sister Riya.
Samuel Miranda, Sushant's house manager, has also told NCB that he used to arrange drugs for Sushant at the behest of Shovik, named Budd. There are digital records of more than 12 financial transactions between Samuel Miranda and Shovik. Riya Chakraborty's credit card was also used for many transactions.
Talking to DNA, Mumbai's noted criminal lawyer Ujjwal Nikam said that there was a possibility that Riya Chakraborty might be arrested. In the Sushant Singh Rajput case, the drug angle could be the cause of suicide or death of the actor, who was found dead in his Bandra flat on 14 June.
We need to understand why Riya Chakraborty can be arrested. The first major reason is that Riya is accused of giving drugs to Sushant Singh, and this is also confirmed through the interrogation of Sheik Chakraborty. On the basis of these grounds, the NCB may arrest Rhea.
The CBI can also arrest Riya as she is accused of making Sushant a drug addict. Sushant Singh's family has accused Riya of using Sushant's money. It is alleged that he used Sushant's money to buy drugs for himself and to meet his family's other needs.
Sushant Singh's family has also alleged that he had split from his family due to Riya Chakraborty. On August 27, Sushant's father KK Singh said that Riya Chakraborty poisoned his son and that he should be arrested.
He said, "Riya is my son's killer, she used to give him drugs and he should be arrested)."
KK Singh further said that Riya had been poisoning Sushant for a long time, "I request that the CBI immediately arrest Riya and her associates."
