Most of the Bollywood actors are already covered in various answers. I have chosen an actor whose journey is a cliffhanger. He began with a bang and was highly rated. An incident happened and he met with a doom. There was no doubt on his talent, however, his attitude, arrogance and choices were questionable. He designed his own journey from a top rated to an underrated actor. Today he is known more for his philanthropic work and powerful performances
He is none another than Vivek Oberoi: my one of the favorite actor

- Vivek started his journey on a top note with an incredible performance in Ram Gopal Verma's Company. His role was loosely based on Chota Rajan. Vivek was pitted against Ajay Devgan and he was rock solid. Vivek won many fans in the role of "Chandu Bhai".

- Same year Vivek had another wonderful release of Sathiya movie. He was unanimously liked by everyone. For Company, Vivek got two Filmfare awards: best debut & best supporting actor. Vivek was also liked for an intense portrayal in the movie "Dum

- Everything was going fine with Vivek, success, awards, loads of movies offer & was rumored to be in a relationship with Aishwarya Rai. Salman Khan threatened Vivek. A momentary outbreak and Vivek did the infamous press conference and spoke nasty things about Salman Khan.

- Straight away the film fraternity rejected him. Talent is not the only quality required to get success in the film industry. Every film industry has certain camps of big production houses like YRF, Dharma, groups. It is a well-known thing in the film circle that Salman used his clout to ensure that Vivek Oberoi was nearly black-listed. No big production house cast him their movies. He was left out of the award functions and media/film industry treated him like a fool or a convicted criminal.
- I have mentioned about the arrogance and the choices. Vivek kept Aditya Chopra waiting for a movie and gave attitude to him, which ensured he got no work from YRF banner ( Vivek himself confessed and apologized to Aditya Chopra in the Sajid Khan show ). Aditya Chopra said " 'Vivek, you have in you to become Shah Rukh Khan. However, you can't be because today itself you think that you are Shah Rukh Khan!". Subhash Ghai had a slight conflict with Vivek during the shooting of Kisna. Even Vivek had a tiff with Sanjay Dutt. Vivek had a dispute with Sanjay Gupta during the casting of Shootout at Wadala

- Even Ranbir Kapoor, John Abraham had a fallout with Salman Khan, however, all kept getting work. Vivek Oberoi after being the butt of jokes, ego clashes with few was not getting the required work, apologized to Salman Khan at an award show, went to meet his ailing mother at a hospital. Salman was not impressed.
Coming back to the various roles done by Vivek Oberoi;

- He did multistarrer hit movie Masti. In 2005 he was appreciated in Mani Ratnam's Yuva. Years 2004 to 2006 were forgettable for him with lots of movie getting bombed at the box office: Kyun ho Gaya na, Kisna, Home delivery, Pyare Mohan, Naksha, Deewane Hue Pagal. These flops also contributed to the downfall of Vivek's career.

- In 2006 he did Omkara, and was appreciated for the role of local ruffian "Keshu Firangi".

- In 2007 Vivek came with an amazing performance of Maya Dolas in Shootout at Lokhandwala. It was evident that no one can beat Vivek when he plays a gangster. Shootout was a hit, Vivek won some awards for it, however, Vivek was unemployed. He came back in Mission Istanbul. The movie flopped but Vivek was appreciated for his performance.

- In between Vivek Oberoi rejected Saif's role in Hum Tum, Shahrukh Khan's Om Shanti Om, where Shahrukh strongly convinced him to play the antagonist part, eventually played by Arjun Rampal. Nothing went in his favor, thus, Vivek rejected these movies. Due to delay in making of Kisna, he lost the opportunity to work in Bunty & Babli.
- In 2009 Vivek worked in Kurbaan in a supporting role of Riyaz Maasud. In an interview, Karan Johar informed that Vivek was unwilling to do that role and it took time and effort to convince Vivek for the role. Vivek was again appreciated for his acting.

- Vivek's Prince despite being a fast-paced movie flopped at box office, however, as usual, Vivek was appreciated. The big moment came when Ramu offered him Rakht Charitra series and a grand role of Paritala Ravi.

- Trust me guys, Rakht Charitra 1 is one of the best crime movies, ever made in India. Vivek was on the fire and justified the selection for a powerful multi shade character of Paritala Ravi,

- In 2013, Vivek was again in his element, when he did another crime movie with a portrayal of top western UP criminal Satbir Gujjar. Despite meaty roles being offered to Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi, Vivek was able to make his presence felt. Same year Grand Masti and Krish 3 have had commercial success for him. He was liked for his negative role in Krish.
- After 2013, his next release came in 2016 - Great grand masti, which failed at the box office because of an unfortunate leak before release. Finally Aditya Chopra gave him a movie Bank Chor, which failed, Vivek was liked by critics for his role of CBI officer Amzad Khan.

- In 2017 Vivek acted in Ajit's Vivegam. He was at a menacing best in the role of Vikrant Dhawan in Amazon prime series Inside edge. The web series was highly successful. Vivek is now working with Ramu on another crime biopic for Mutthapa Rai. There were also reports about him producing Company 2 with Ramu, based on UP criminal Virender Sahi. Vivek Oberoi is also rumored to star as a villain in Ram Charan's movie. Thus Vivek is doing well in the South Indian cinema.
- Unlike his contemporaries of Bollywood. Vivek has a heart of gold. He is a great philanthropist. He adopted tsunami-affected villages. He has worked towards rehabilitating mentally challenged homeless women. He donated 25 flats to the families of slain CRPF jawans in Maharastra. His family is also working for the rehabilitation of slum children and cancer patients. He runs a project called DEVI for underprivileged girls in Vrindavan. He has started an initiative " Set beautiful free' to provide shelter to the sex workers in Mumbai. The actor has donated $ 3 M to date and helped raise $ 25 M for charities.

He gifted a flat to an acid attack survivor, on her wedding. Vivek owns a real estate infrastructure firm.
I follow Vivek's journey as a case study with lessons;
1) Start your journey with bang ( movie success and awards in beginning )
2) Be grounded, do not let success take away your senses ( his tiffs, ego issues, attitude with many in the film industry )
3) Please make decisions of love with utmost caution ( Aishwarya dumped him despite Vivek stood for her )
4) It is good to be honest, however, bad if you are unable to understand the clout of mighty people ( Vivek's fallout with Salman )
5) No one can stop a real talent ( Vivek excelling in the limited opportunities like Shootout, Rakht Charitra, Inside edge )
6) You can always try to rectify your mistakes and mend ways with people ( Vivek is back in friendly terms with Aditya, Subhash, Sanjay Gupta, Sanjay Dutt: even he had the courage to apologize to Salman in public. People lack such kind of courage ).
7) Only great deeds of people will be remembered ( People will forget the success of heroes like Salman etc, as every era had stars dominating the box office, however, people, society will never forget the lots selfless charity work done by Vivek Oberoi ).
