Amy Carlson is an American actress born on July 7, 1968, in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. She grew up in a large family with five siblings and attended Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, where she studied drama.
Carlson began her acting career in the early 1990s with guest appearances on television shows such as "Law & Order" and "The Untouchables." In 1993, she landed her first recurring role as Josie Watts on the soap opera "Another World."
She gained wider recognition in 1998 when she was cast as Alex Taylor on the hit CBS series "Third Watch." Carlson played the role for six seasons until the show ended in 2005.
After "Third Watch," Carlson continued to work steadily in television, with recurring roles on shows like "Law & Order: Trial by Jury," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," and "Blue Bloods." She also had guest roles on shows like "The Good Wife," "NCIS," and "Homeland."
In 2017, Carlson was cast as Linda Reagan, the wife of Danny Reagan (played by Donnie Wahlberg), on "Blue Bloods." She played the role for seven seasons before her character was killed off in a shocking twist in the season 8 premiere.
Aside from her work in television, Carlson has also appeared in several films, including "Fleming," "The Kidnapping," and "Anamorph."
Carlson has been married to Syd Butler, the bassist for the band Les Savy Fav, since 2004. They have two children together.
