1. Initially, Instagram was known as 'Codename', but the name was changed to 'Instagram' before it's launching. The name came from the mashing of words- 'Instant camera' and 'telegram'.
2. When Facebook bought Instagram for $1 billion dollars in 2012, there were only 30 million users on the platform. Now it has approximately 500 million users from all parts of the world.
3. Kevin Systrom, the co-founder was the first person to post a photo on the platform on July 16, 2010. It was a picture of a dog.
