Julie Carmen is an American actress and singer, born on April 4, 1954, in New York City, USA. She grew up in Spanish Harlem and attended the High School of Performing Arts. She went on to study at the Juilliard School before starting her career in entertainment. Carmen made her acting debut in the 1978 film "The Little Dragons," but her breakout role came in 1983's "Eddie and the Cruisers," where she played the love interest of Michael Pare's character. She went on to appear in films such as "Gloria" (1980), "In the Mouth of Madness" (1994), and "The Milagro Beanfield War" (1988), which earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination. In addition to her work in film, Carmen has also had success on stage and television. She has appeared in several Broadway productions, including "Zoot Suit" and "The Tempest," and has had guest roles on shows such as "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "NYPD Blue." Carmen is also a trained singer and has released several albums. Her music combines Latin, jazz, and pop influences, and she has performed in venues around the world. Throughout her career, Carmen has been recognized for her talent and contribution to the arts. She was honored with the Nosotros Golden Eagle Award in 1988 and the Spirit of Ra Award in 2006.
